Meet Our Nurse
Mrs. Jessica Martin, R.N.
Jessica.Martin@midlothianisd.org

Hi! My name is Jessica Martin and it is such a joy to care for your children every day. I graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and then obtained my Registered Nurse licensure.

Prior to becoming the school nurse here at T.E. Baxter I worked at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas for 8 years. During my time at Children’s, I worked in inpatient Cardiology as well as the Ambulatory Care Services outpatient clinics where I was trained to work in over 15 specialty areas.

School health services include acute-chronic disease treatment, first aid, health screening and health education. Comprehensive school health services contribute to decreased absenteeism and increased academic performance.  It is my goal to educate and promote health and wellness for every child.

Clinic Information

Welcome to the T.E. Baxter Elementary School Nurse web page. Here you will you find our current school guidelines regarding exclusions to school.  Please feel free to contact me at 469.856.6100 regarding any health concerns you may have for your child while attending Baxter Elementary.

Attending school on a regular basis is important for each child’s academic and social development. If your child is absent, it is harder to keep up with their classwork.

Our policy is that students should not attend school or will be sent home for:

  • Temperature of 100 degrees or above
  • Undetermined rash over any part of the body accompanied by fever
  • Nausea, Vomiting or Diarrhea.
  • Red, draining eyes
  • Intense itching with signs and symptoms of secondary infection
  • Open, draining lesions
  • Jaundice
  • The presence of lice

Students must be fever free without medication for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Students cannot return to school after being treated for pink eye or strep throat until they have been on antibiotics and fever free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. For readmission, some illnesses may require a statement from the student’s physician stating the student is not contagious.

If your child requires any medical care or medication while at school, please visit the MISD Health and Wellness web page to view all forms that will need to be completed.

“Healthy Children Learn Best!” My office is always open. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
